Donna Walsh | Visual Artist / Web Designer

I’m drawn to watercolor by its transparency and the way light interacts with it. More recently, I’ve been doing more mixed media including other watermedia, photography and digital painting.  I tried to be meticulous in my work, something that came naturally with my background in science.  Planning used to be just a “before thing” but now is integral to my artistic process.    Every painting or photograph stands on its own but now I often ponder how the work can become part of  larger expression.  In my search for a distinct aesthetic voice, I’ve been doing landscapes, figures and floral’s

My decision process is a merger of careful planning and inspiration. This was operative in paint, brush paper selection and just about every tool needed, including the digital tools. Each painting begins with a story or emotion.  I love colors; working spontaneously and watching the image and the emotion take shape on the paper or virtually.  I hope a viewer can feel a sense of intimate engagement in the finished artwork.
